Licenses and credits

The open data, 3D models, typeface and icons behind Anatomy Atlas 3D and this website, with their licences.

Anatomy Atlas 3D and this website are built on the work of open anatomy projects. Here is what we use, and under which licence.

Anatomical data

  • Z-Anatomy, the libre 3D atlas of anatomy: anatomical names, Latin and French terms, regions, muscle actions, origins and insertions used in the app and summarised on this site. Licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. z-anatomy.com · models on GitHub
  • BodyParts3D, The Database Center for Life Science: anatomical data. Licensed CC BY 4.0. Licence
  • Terminologia Anatomica 2 (2019), the international anatomical terminology, as distributed by Z-Anatomy.
  • Wikipedia: definitions shown in the app, with the article and revision credited next to the text. Licensed CC BY-SA 4.0. The pages on this website are written in our own words and do not reproduce those definitions.

The data derived from these sources (names, terms, attachments) is shared under CC BY-SA 4.0, as the licence requires.

3D models

The anatomical models in the app are the Plasticboy Standard Complete Male and Female Anatomy Pack, licensed for use inside interactive software (plasticboyanatomy.com). Images on this website are screenshots and renders from the app. The model files themselves are not distributed.
